Juror: David Limrite
Juror comments: I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to be your juror for “What Now”. I would like to thank you for the honor you placed in my hands of selecting the work to be included in this important exhibition. Congratulations to all of you for entering this exhibit and especially to those of you who were juried into this show. I want you all to know that I did not take this responsibility lightly. Please remember that this is one person’s opinion. As an artist myself I tried to make my choices from a place of respect for the creative journey. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of the beautiful work that was submitted for this show.

I was not looking for just another landscape, portrait, cityscape, or still life. I was looking for something more. I was looking for work that made my heart and soul respond. I chose work that piqued my interest and was interesting to look at, to ponder, and to try and understand. With each piece, I asked, “What Now?” “Why?” “What’s next?”

I also looked for strength in the foundations of picture-making. Specifically: design, composition, shape, color, value, line, texture, and edge quality.

What struck me most about the work submitted for this show was not only the variety of subject matter, but also the variety of styles and techniques. I also felt the commitment of each artist to create their best work.

It has been my distinct honor and pleasure to be your juror for “What Now”.
