Benefits of Membership

Founded in 1921, Women Painters West is a non-profit organization that seeks to bring together talented professional women artists in the spirit of friendship, artistic expression, education and philanthropy.

EXHIBITIONS: Juried exhibitions provide professional opportunities for members to showcase their work by collaborating with gallery directors, museum curators, and other art professionals in competitive exhibitions.

PROGRAMS: Monthly meetings, guest artist presentations, artist’s studio visits, and private docent-led exhibition tours place the creative process at the center of WPW’s commitment to share ideas and experiences.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership is by application and submission of three examples of original artwork. Applicants are screened once a year in the spring by a jury panel of five WPW members who are elected each year.

PHILANTHROPY: WPW supports emerging artists by providing scholarships to art students and community art programs. Each December WPW collects art supplies for a needy school art program and provides art supply gift certificates to the selected school.

COMMUNICATIONS: WPW connects artists to each other and the general public through its monthly newsletter, website, and social media presence. The website links artists’ names to the artist’s website. Links on the website display the artwork gallery for each exhibition. Members can announce and post notices about exhibits and news in the newsletter, on the website blog, and on the WPW Facebook page.
